This summer, Francesco Mazzei, one of London’s hottest chefs at the moment, and Michelin-starred Milanese chef Davide Oldani are joining forces to present London with Grana Padano Week, a true gastronomic treat for cheese lovers in honour of the world’s best-selling Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product.
From Monday 8th July to Friday 12th July, executive chef of L’Anima restaurant Francesco Mazzei will host special guest and globally renowned Italian chef Davide Oldani to present an exciting menu of dishes based around the delicious and versatile Grana Padano cheese. The menu will be available daily at lunchtime between 11.45am – 3pm, and dinner between 5.30pm – 11pm, at a fixed price of £29.50 for two courses or £35.50 for three courses.
Nicola Cesare Baldrighi, President of The Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano cheese, says: “The bespoke Grana Padano Week menu is a celebration of Italian food with Grana Padano at its core, and combines the cooking expertise and traditions of Oldani’s native Northern Italy with Mazzei’s heritage in the South of Italy”.
The menu features a starter, pasta or risotto dish, main course and a dessert created by each chef, and each dish showcases the versatility and flavour of Grana Padano cheese.
Elisabetta Serraiotto, Marketing Manager at The Consortium, adds: “In order to promote our cheese in the UK – and in particular, at this event in London – we wanted to offer English consumers a very complete Italian experience: Davide will demonstrate the tradition of Northern cuisine from Lombardy, whilst Francesco will demonstrate the tradition of Southern cuisine from Calabria”.
Grana Padano’s PDO status means that it is essentially and exclusively linked to the particular area in Northern Italy – the Padana Valley – where it is produced and has been for nearly 1,000 years, inseparable from the climate, culture, and the know-how of the people that create it. This ensures the ultimate in quality, authenticity and traceability, making it an ideal ingredient in meals and snacks around the globe.
